Görlitz is the sixth largest town in the state of Saxony and the most eastern town of Germany. The border river to Poland is the Neiße. On the east bank is the polish city Zgorzelec located. It is an independent city nowadays, after being one city together with Görlitz. The urban area of Görlitz consists of 60% green and open area. The city holds one of the best preserved old towns in middle Europe.

Railway: Görlitz is located within the railway line between Dresden and Wroclaw (Poland) as well as within the line Berlin-Cottbus-Görlitz-Zittau-Liberec. It takes a bit more than three hours to go to Berlin.
